Dentures

  • Dentures replace lost teeth.
  • Suitability depends on factors like the number of missing teeth, gum condition, and overall health.
  • Existing teeth may require evaluation, root canal treatment, or removal based on their condition.
  • A thorough ORAL examination decides the best denture option.

Types

  • Partial Denture :
Replace One Or More Missing Teeth.
  • Complete Denture :
Removable; for patients with no remaining teeth.
  • Fixed Partial Denture (Dental Bridge) :
    Involves modifying adjacent teeth.

Partial Denture

Dentures can be easily inserted into and removed from the mouth.

Complete Denture

This type of denture is removable and is provided to patients who have lost all of their teeth.

Fixed Partial Denture

Fixed Partial Denture, also known as a Dental Bridge, involves modifying the surface of the existing teeth adjacent to the missing teeth area. Precise measurements are taken, and then a cast is created to fabricate a metal, metal-ceramic, or metal-free ceramic prosthesis. These are cemented using biocompatible cements with strong adhesive properties.

How Can I Take Care of Dentures?

These guidelines are for the proper aftercare of dentures.

  • Clean dentures gently with a soft cloth or towel.
  • Perform cleaning over a basin of water to prevent accidents.
  • Store dentures in water with a little mouthwash when not in use.
  • Avoid hot water for cleaning or storage to prevent distortion.
  • Brush dentures daily to remove food deposits and plaque.
  • Massage gums, use mouthwash, and clean tongue and gums gently with a soft brush.
  • These practices relax tissues, improve blood circulation, and maintain denture longevity and oral health.
